Design Fridge Just Got Bigger

If you’re a regular visitor to the site then by now you’ve noticed there are a few changes to the site making it bigger, and hopefully better. The rebuild has taken me about 3 months from concept to completion and like most web projects the launch is about 4 weeks late.

By starting from scratch it’s caused a headache or two but it’s been worth it, and I’m already thinking about the new ways to improve the site. Over the next few weeks I’ll be sharing everything I’ve learnt throughout the process so expect a lot of WordPress tips and hacks.

The old design

Three New Sections

Apart from the obvious changes to the look and feel, the fridge has expanded with 3 new sections;

Articles – There’s only a handful of articles published so far but I’ve already got some interviews and tutorials lined up as well as some usability-based topics and a few on web trends. If you have an article you’d like to publish on this site or if you think you would make a good interviewee then get in touch.

Resources – This is basically a dumping ground for links to useful articles and resources. As you know, there’s so much stuff out there, but I’ll be sifting through it all and pulling out the juicy bits. You can expect to see 20-30 links added each day by myself, but if you’d like to make your own contribution you can submit a resource link here.

Community – This section is still being developed at the moment. More info coming soon. In the mean time keep an eye on the DF tweets as i’ll be asking a few fridge followers to test it before it goes live.

And don’t worry we’ve still got a design showcase – this section has had a revamp to the interface making it much easy to filter the sites, and its now located under ‘inspiration’ apart from that the layout is basically the same so hopefully you won’t get lost.

User Feedback

So that’s it for now, bugger off and click things. (If you find something that’s broken I’d appreciate it if you could tweet me @ramsden)

I’m really interested to get some feedback from you ‘the user.’ Let me know what you think. Be as honest as you like.
