I like the section at the top of the portfolio presenting Davids contact details like a giant business card. It lets you know who your dealing with straight away. I think a photographic portrait may work better than an illustration - it would feel more personal and place more emphasis on the illustrations in the portfolio.
Everyday the fridge is updated with the best new sites and web design resources that emerge from the industry, and sometimes (when i get a spare minute) I sit at my desk and write an article.
